I really appreciated reading Diane's note about touching.
The day I don't get chills when I've helped a Mom learn how to hold, latch,
feed,
and love her baby, and then want to touch her shoulder to tell her how
wonderful
she is doing....that's the day I stop doing my job.
I love what I do because I try to help Moms feel they can nurse their babies
and
feel wonderful about what they have accomplished and the joy she will have
in this breastfeeding relationship with her baby, and I think that touching is
a part of it.
Forgive me, but I touch before I have them sign a written consent.
Although I always ask permission beforehand.
Thank goodness our hearts and souls are part of this business.
P.S. I can also understand the people that can do this with "their hands in
their
pockets". What's right for some is not necessarily right for others.
I guess I've been lucky, but I always get a smile back from the mom, and
that's all I need to "make my day".
Thanks for listening.
