Okay, I've been reading all these posts and people have a right to their
opinion. Yet, as someone who has worked on the LLLI conference committee
(Anaheim in 89) I would like you to consider something.

LLL is a Volunteer organization. Leaders pay dues like every other
member even while volunteering their time (which is considerable) and
talents (also considerable). LLL relies on their Leaders (and members)
as volunteers do the work of setting up and working at the Conference.
This is no small task and leaves those volunteers fairly worn out. There
are meetings, at least a year in advance, to attend. Hours spent on
phones, writing letters, soliciting exhibitors and working with the
hotel. Registration is a major job. Most of the volunteers never get to
see much of the conference they work so hard to provide. All of this is
done without renumeration to the volunteers.

LLL needs to move the Conference around to vary the workload among it's
membership and Leaders. It also tries to provide a venue with activities
of interest to families. Not everyone is opposed to Disney, but like
Kathy D. said, don't like it don't go. Just please understand that LLL is
not a for profit organization and deserves support for all the good it
has done.

As for the heat, Wash. D.C. is muggy too as are many other venues--even
Anaheim in August!

I am looking forward to S. Ca. Conf. in May and hearing Dr. Jack and
others!
