In answer to Ann's query about TEETH WHITENERS......they "appear to be safe"
BUT why take a still somewhat unknown risk.

I have never seen any literature reporting Teeth Whitening related body
damage nor fetal damage during pregnancy....nor have I seen and real concerns
from dentists about their safety during pregnancy.......BUT, whiteners
usually contain Carbamide Peroxide which converts to a concentrated Hydrogen
PerOxide when it hist the saliva. Since it is known that OXIDANTS can do
damage to cells........why take the risk during lactation, and why take any
bigger risk during pregnancy????? when any associated risk will be hard to
document.

I recommend to women patients that they DO NOT whiten teeth during pregnancy,
nor during early lactation, nor during attempts at conception.....because
they could never reverse that choice......but they can enjoy the Whiter teeth
later, without questions nor without the chance they could be the first to be
documented fetal or infant damage.

Furthermore, it makes a good deal of sense to use TEETH WHITENING, which can
be the most cost effective way to change a smile, as a "cure" for Post-Partum
Blues.
