I feel concerned to see
diametrically opposed information coming out from two list members, and
anxious that perhaps I haven't done my homework properly.... so would like
to see the references saying that hard plastic is now the preferred type of
container. My information says hard plastic is adequate and acceptable, but
not preferred.

It seems there isn't a "preferred type of container" but rather a preferred
type of container depending on what the EBM is being used for and how it is
being handled. A SAHM that pumps occasionally, only cools the EBM in the
frig, and then reheats in warm water to room temperature doesn't come near the
processes that EBM must go through when shipped to a milk bank.
