Pat Boone & the Dairy Council/Association did an excellent job (advertising)
in "brainwashing" most Americans that if you did not drink milk everyday that
you are just not a good Christian American sort of person, you know.  <g>
(Remember Pat Boone - white pants, white shoes, etc.).
I respectively submit to my parents that it is really unnatural to drink cow's
milk.  The way the body is "designed" is for an infant to be born, breastfeed
until weaned and then NEVER drink milk again!
OTOH, "they" say that if all you had were potatoes & cow's milk - you could
live even though that would get pretty boring after awhile.  :)
Now, what really worries me about the consumption of milk is the current use
of bovine growth hormone in dairy cattle to boost their milk output.  Milk
from BGH-treated cattle has TWICE as much IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1)
as milk from untreated cattle.  IGF-1 has been linked to cancer of the breast,
kidney & prostate.  The government/FDA will NOT allow dairy products to be
"labelled" as being from BGH-treated cattle.  My question and one that I have
NEVER seen addressed by anyone - how does this affect/effect formulas?  I
guess it is a "dirty" little secret that no one wants to investigate!
