Primary Addison's is failure of the adrenal cortex itself
Secondary Addison's is failure of the pituitary hormone(s) that simulate
the adrenal. This is the more common form.

This results in a deficiency of cortisol, maybe aldosterone (and
potentially others). There is no cure, there is treatment (just like
diabetes).

Replacement therapy involves use of two different steroids, both of
which have an L3 rating in Hale.

While treatment prevents potentially fatal crises, the hormonal balance
may not be as precise as in the non-affected person.

FWIW, the late President Kennedy suffered from Addison's.

Addison's is relatively uncommon, so perhaps only endocrinologists feel
comfortable normalising the experiences of those affected. Extra
caution for pregnancy and breastfeeding is recommended but that would be
true for ANY woman with a serious chronic disease.

So maybe that explains the point of view, but the doctor who made the
"you can't breastfeed" comment is still talking through his hat. Or
stethoscope. Whatever.
