Nancy points out that human milk, although necessary, may not be sufficient
for VLBW babies.  However, exposure to cows milk via the oddly named
'*human* milk fortifier', is not the only way to ensure that these infants
receive all of the nutrients they need.  I understand that the dosage
calculation is simplified when commercial '*human* milk fortifier' is used
but exposure to cow's milk can be avoided if the treating docs are willing
to calculate dosages for several supplements.
