Great analogy, Naomi.

A year or so ago, my husband and I started dancing lessons - rock 'n'
roll - which we had never done before, as naturally, we are *much too
young* ; )

The first class I was on the verge of tears. I couldn't do it. I
saw all these other couples doing incredibly complicted moves . My
feet were sore. My poor husband's toes were mashed. I fell over at
one point.

But I so wanted to do it (I was sick of bobbing up and down
pointlessly at parties).

This feeling of frustration and ambition persisted for several weeks.
And gradually, we learnt to do it. We are now among the dancers that
the newbies in the class admire for doing incredibly complicated
moves.

It didn't come naturally to us - though it does for other people. And
the fact it was hard at the beginning makes it even more enjoyable
now :)
