Hi, Christine: San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition does an excellent
newsletter which is available online at www.breastfeeding.org to download.
Nancy Wight is involved in this and her contributions are, as always,
excellent.
I have done a newsletter in the past (both monthly and quarterly, depending
on time) one page, front/back, which I sent to the docs' offices. A
surprising number of them did read it and would frequently give me positive
feedback, but it was mostly read by their office staffs. Two audiences for
the price of one. I would also post the current newsletter on the inpatient
units.
My previous hospital also used to let me offer a yearly "office staff
luncheon" (the hospital provided the lunch spread) for the peds, OB, and
family practice office staffs and frequently some of the docs would come
by - lending further credence to the adage of "feed them and they will
come". The nurses really appreciated the mini-learning session with
handouts (which I then distributed to all the offices afterward, so none
could use the excuse that they didn't get the information). I would
sometimes hear back from them that they were using the information in their
practices. I geared the information to situations commonly encountered in
the office.
Good Luck with your endeavors.
