Hi All!

All this discussion reminds me of my own personal experience twelve
years ago. Shortly after my first son was born, I had such serious allergies
that I had allergic conjunctivitis, and I could not wear my contacts.
Glasses were worse, because I would develop severe sinus headaches. After
almost a year of allergy problems, I did some research and decided to try the
allergy shot route. The first physician that I went to was an ear, nose, and
throat specialist who also provided allergy treatments. After a quick IgE
test, the doctor told me that he wanted me on cortisone, but he told me that
I could not take it if I was pregnant or nursing.

My son was about 13 months at the time, and I had taken him with me on
the office visit. I told the doctor hat I was still nursing. This clod
said, "This boy--he looks like he could drive a truck! Besides, how much
longer do you expect to nurse him anyway?" I told him that I had no
intention of weaning, and then he had the audacity to tell me that allergy
shots would be a waste of time, and that I should come back and see him once
I CAME TO MY SENSES and weaned the baby! I told him that I had no intention
of returning to his office EVER again. I remember that he charged $55
dollars for that office visit, and I was angered by the fact that I was
expected to make the $11 copay! My allergy problems were eventually solved
by a more enlightened physician who specialized in allergy treatment.
UUUGGGGGHHHH!
