Mary Kay, I am highly allergic to wool. I can go shopping and just touch fabric and know it is wool because my fingers burn. I can use lansinoh without any problems. I use it once or twice daily for dry hands (I wash them all the time and the skin on my fingers gets chapped and sore). I used to touch the plain lanolin tubes when I worked in the hospital and if mom had smeared any on the tube, my hands would burn. I would suggest this mom try the lansinoh on her forearm and see if she reacts. Maybe she could just rub in some of her milk? Your suggestion of olive oil should be ok, too. (I am a highly allergic person, perfume, skin creams, and foods.)

Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
