I have been working with a mother whose baby had a small amound of blood
in her stool a couple of times. Baby was also a little fussy.

Ped recommended weaning to predigested formula. Pat recommended an
elimination diet (dairy and beef) along with no ferrous sulfate in
supplements. Baby was much more comfortable and no blood for the past 4
weeks, but doctor wanted to re-test the stool. Baby is gaining well and is
happy most of the time.

Stool sample this week showed a blood sugar level of 2 and doctor said that
the normal range is .5 to .7.

What do those "normal" numbers mean? If baby is doing well, is this a case
of "looking leads to finding"? Are there other concerns that should be
explored?
