Regarding babies who are fussy and want to nurse very frequently in the late
afternoon and evening...

Nope!  I don't think babies are fussy at this time *just* because of low
supply. It's been a real eye-opener to me to see that babies being offered
ample quantities of EBM or (sigh) formula by bottle behave in exactly the
same way in the evenings.  They take 20 ml and doze, then 20 ml more, then a
little more etc. The fussy time seems to be characterized by the need to
have little quantities of milk interspersed with lots of holding, cuddling,
movement.  Beats me why, but parents who are persuaded to go along with this
bizaare (to them) behaviour are able to keep the baby reasonably happy in
the late afternoons/evenings;  parents who want the baby to have "a good
feed" then conk out, and keep trying to *make* the baby fit this pattern,
find that the result is "colic".  Has anyone else seen this?
