Breastfeeding was mentioned on US Television recently:

1. "The View" talkshow did a piece on preventing breast cancer Oct 28, and
listed "breastfeeding" as one of the ways to reduce risk Host Meridith
first thought her risk was increased, because she had her kids after age 30,
and she breastfed, (thinking breastfeeding *increased* breast cancer risk),
until she was corrected by the doctor that breastfeeding *decreased* risk.
Then the doctor repeatedly stated - "give your baby the breast".

From the website, the recap of the item is:
"The View's resident physician, Dr. Donna Willis told us the top ten ways we
can prevent breast cancer. If you have any questions after reviewing the
following information and would like to contact Dr. Willis, please e-mail
her at [log in to unmask]

Tip #1 - Eat Your Veggies
Tip #2 - Eat Foods Rich in Antioxidants
Tip #3 - Drink Less Alcohol
Tip #4 - Have Children Before 30
Tip #5 - Breast Feed
Tip #6 - Exercise 30 Minutes a Day
Tip #7 - Lose Weight
Tip #8 - Reduce Estrogen Exposure
Tip #9 - Don't Smoke
Tip #10 - Eat Good Dietary Fats

2. I'm told that "Entertainment Tonight" dedicated a short segment to
Brooke Shields on location shooting her commericial for the Bright(?)
Beginnings formula company.

And so we see the power of getting a celebrity endorsement - free
advertising on a mainstream show.
