To me, this ticks most of the boxes for 'very generous milk supply' -
which is what I call 'too much milk' as it soounds better!!

I wonder if this baby is gaining more than just 'well' - if he is,
that would tick the other box for me.

The spraying of milk when the baby lets go is v. characteristic of
this situation, as is the baby's behaviour, and the fact it doesn't
happen at every feed.

The suggestion I make in these cases is to do one-sided feeding ie
baby comes to one breast only every time he comes to the breast
within a 4-6 hour period, with the other side hand-expressed to
comfort *only* if necessary.

I would say from my experience that this change of regime improves
the whole situation in more than 50 per cent of cases. Mother has to
do it for at least 2 days before she knows for sure if it is not
going to work.
