I earned my JD credential in less time than it took to earn my IBCLC.
Working full time and going to law school part time, it took me four years
before it was all said and done. I got my IBCLC six years after I walked
into my first BF support group meeting (without my baby -- I truly didn't
realize they were allowed) and knew I had found my second calling.

I have to do 60 hours of CLEs (legal continuing education) every five
years; IBLCE requires 75 hours of CERPs in the same period. Thank HEAVEN I
never have to take another bar exam, the entry level test for my (other)
chosen profession. I have to sit the IBLCE exam every ten years.

I just LOVE the free-to-download ILCA Position Paper on the Role and Impact
of the IBCLC. Every IBCLC should proudly print it out and carry it around,
to remind herself and to educate others about our penultimate training,
qualification, and accountability.
