I believe when suggesting over the counter meds or treatments such as
antibiotic oint, lanolin, tylenol prod. etc. that this does not come under
the relm of prescription but treatments that fall under care within a
nursing diagnosis. As a registered nurse or lactation specialist these
would not be considered prescribing....This was my understanding. When I
suggest antibiotic oint. I had it reviewed by our hospital peds and OB DRs.
who didn't see a problem...Of course if signs of problems continue they are
urged to call there Dr.
