I was glad to see Esther's post with the reference to Kerstin Hedberg
Nyqvist's article on the topic. Kerstin is a Lactnet subscriber and if she
is reading this I hope she will respond as well.
The "breastfeeding wheel" for which Nikki Lee provided a link is a bit
confusing since it is presented as a list, rather than a wheel, but it seems
to be the one developed by Berlith Persson over ten years ago. Kerstin's
work carries Berlith's theory several steps farther, and clarifies several
points that are central to our understanding of what pre-term babies are
capable of. Once again the Swedish breastfeeding research community shows
its excellence - can anyone tell how envious I am, from just over the border
in Norway?

I can't find a reference for the Holden NICU BF wheel on their site, but I
assume they have secured the necessary permission from Berlith if this
indeed is a translation of her work.

Here is the reference Esther provided, once again:

The development of preterm infants' breastfeeding behavior.
