i've had severe upper respirator infections multiple times during my
nursing career incl pneumonia when my youngest was 14 days old.

I did the abx and an albuterol inhaler. Look at labels carefully as
sometimes plain robitussin is hard to find....there are many
kinds/combinations. Cough supressant should be avoided with
pneumonia....and of course, she's probably not looking for the
robitussin with the decongestant either:).

i also, during the worst of it, for just a few days total, would use
nasal spray (just one spray instead of three) for the very very worst
of the congestion so that I could sleep at night. but usually nasal
congestion was only problem early on, not so much a problem by the
time the pneumonia was dx'ed.

there also is a combination homeopathic remedy by Heel called
'bronchitis' that i find very very helpful with any cough wether it's
irt pneumonia, bronchitis or general chesty cold.
