Dear Lactnetters, I am having a difficult time with other RN'S and employees about cultural differences. Whenever I have a Mother from Hati or Spanish countries or recently Bangladesh I am confronted by attitudes and downright hostillity if I try to help these mother by giving them Breastfeeding protocols and expecting the staff to continue to offer these patients help. Recently, I was accused of trying to {change a patients culture } by a staff member and she was very loud and verbal with me. Lucky for me I am not intimated but the question is : how do you all handle a problem like this? I try to offer help and encourage staff to help and not take the stand that mother will nurse anyway when goes home, so let her bottle feed in hospital. The problem is mostly with the staff. Thanks in advance for any help in advance.
