Just a question here. Don't MOST mothers who deliver with a C section get
epis and pitocin, also? I have had three sections, two of them with
complete labors. I was given pit during the labors, and then epis with the
first two sections, and a spinal with the third. I was given pit after all
my section births. Almost *all* mothers who deliver via C section are given
Pit after the section as well, to help the uterus contract and control
bleeding.

My guess would be section moms are exposed to MORE pit and epis than
vaginal birth moms. After all, there are always vaginal birth moms who
deliver without meds, but with the extreme exception of the rare "crash
section" ALL mothers who deliver C sec get these meds. (And the poor mom
who has to have a crash section will always get meds during or after.)

And just a personal observation, I have no urinary problems and three
sections, but my closest friend had only one birth, a totally unmedicated
vaginal birth, and can't cough, sneeze or run without an "accident."

I am NOT advocating sections in order to prevent urinary problems, but am a
bit sceptical that the epi or the pit is the culprit in these urinary
problems.
