If peopel out there are still using 40 as the cut-off between
hypoglycemic/not hypoglycemic (even in the absence of any symptoms that
this is the case) they are using old data that is generally requiring that
they treat an awful lot of babies who are NOT hypoglycemic. Check out the
info in the brown book for more appropriate information.
Be prepared to reconsider those levels AGAIN when you see the revision.
New information continues to note that below 30 is a far more appropriate
time to consider the baby may be hypoglycemic, but here too asymptomatic
babies need NOT be treated.
