Dear Esther,
Don't worry. The rapid drop in milk supply is just your body conserving
energy toward recovering from the awful stress of surgery. All you have to
do is just rest and recover and keep nursing. I don't think the Reglan
(metaclopramide)
is all that necessary. If the baby is able to nurse
that should be less stressful than fooling with a pump. As you begin to
feel better the milk supply will come back. In the meantime, the 26 month
old
is old enough to have other fluids to keep him hydrated. Little
people can lose a lot of fluids during vomiting and diarrhea, so it is impt.
if your supply is real depleted to make sure toddler has popsicles or chips
of ice or something his upset tummy can tolerate that will keep him from
becomming dehydrated.
