Winnie: Hang in there. At least you are in a position to be counting the
days to retirement. Unfortunately, I like many of us have no choice and
will probably work until the day we die (hopefully, later rather than
sooner). One thing my recent health issues have taught me - I cannot save
the world, so it's not worth risking my health thru avoidable stress, by
obsessing about these things. People have to take responsibilty for their
own lives. All we can do is educate them. What they choose to do with the
information is their business. I find that with this "new" outlook on
life - I experience a lot less stressing about what my patients are doing.

Laurie: Is this particular pediatrician aware that what he is doing is
medical malpractice? In your shoes, I would be concerned that the legal
liability of having to follow his orders is placing me in a less than
desirable legal situation concerning my own practice. But again, it is the
parents' responsibility to speak up regarding their baby's care.
Unfortunately, because so few of them have bothered to educate themselves
sufficiently, they are uncomfortable asking questions or making decisions
about their baby's health care.
Good luck to us all!
