I was one who mentioned this, but what I meant to say is that most
mammals have not got the means to go get other mammals' milk from them.
the cat couldn't dip her paw in your glass of milk if there were no
humans around with glasses of milk to do so, and she wouldn't gather
around for a squirt in the barn either if she didn't have someone to
squirt her! She probably would be hard pressed to milk the cow with her
paws (ouch!), the cow would likely not let her even try to get near to
suckle, and she'd likely not "think" of it if she had been long weaned
(self-weaned, when she was ready). She would drink it if she found a
way to get it (lap little drops up from under where the cow was
standing, perhaps), but she'd have very little way of getting it "in the
natural world"...and I suspect that before the days of humans having
barns, and keeping cows, that cows and kittens didn't really "hang out"
very much together! LOL...

What do people around here think of canned salmon and sardines (with
bones) as calcium sources? too much protein again?

Fio.
