This topic of natural disasters really hits home for me. Being a native Floridian, I have worked several hurricanes in a different capacity in years past, including Andrew.

Living in the Florida Keys, preparing for hurricanes is a topic often brought up at the local mothers support group I lead.
Recently the focus was on breastfeeding and the ease during disasters versus having enough clean bottles, extra water for washing bottles and formlua on hand. Many mothers had never considered that aspect! Actually that discussion gave me my topic for my monthly newspaper column for parents since most hurricane readiness articles do not even address infants- at least in my community.

This morning, several emails in my box from locals collecting supplies to send to our communities to the north that were most effected. Topping the list, infant formula, bottles, and then diapers.
