<< One of my breastfeeding support group moms brought some "gripe water" to
the group and wondered about its safety and efficacy. It contains NA
Bicarb 1.0%, dill oil BP, Caraway Oil BP, Sucrose, and Paraben,(what is
 paraban?) >>

I am a visiting nurse working with mothers and babies in their homes in
Queens, NYC. Many of the mothers I see want to use gripe water. Until
recently, the main ingredient was 95% alcohol. It is now made with/without the
alcohol. This seems to be used often in the West Indies/Jamaica countries. I
strongly advise against the use of the gripe water with alcohol. They might as
well use bourbon!!!!
