> hi! i've lurked here for quite some time and normally don't post. but this
was so exactly my experience, i just thought i'd let you know the mother you're
working with is not alone. when my 1st son was born 3.5 yrs ago, i exclusively
bf'ed him from birth despite him being premature (35 wks) and an nicu baby. i
never used bottles or pacifiers nor did he ever receive a drop of anything
but my milk. he didn't start solids until 10 mos. and my period returned when he
was 3 mos old and remained regular until he was 9 mos old, at which time i
became pg with my 2nd son. when #2 was born, i tandem nursed them (and still am,
actually - my FIL just asked if they are weaned yet and i said, 'why? are you
waiting for a turn?') and thought surely now i would be granted a reprieve
from my cycle! imagine my dismay to have about 3 wks of post-partum bleeding, a
week and a half of nothing and then a regular period! and it has also
continued like clockwork since. once again, we never used pacifiers, bottles or
supplementation with our 2nd baby, who began solids at 8 mos. the only thing my LLLL
could figure is that it must have been b/c they slept thru the night almost
immediately after birth. even w/ cosleeping (bedsharing), they each slept 5-6
hour chunks of time w/out waking to nurse. as for birth control, the only thing
i feel okay using while bfing is FAM (fertility awareness method).
