I am in great need of help! I have a mother who works full time and
ever since she started work (when baby was 3 months old) she has had
clogged milk ducts and specifically painful ones on the nipple (3 to be
exact). The baby is now 6 months old. The clogged ducts in her breast
come and go, but the ones on her nipple are constantly there - sometimes
they feel better than other times. She has been doing warm compresses,
gentle massage and pumping. She also reports that her breast hurts most
after emptying it! She tells me when she works (mon through Fri) she
is only able to breastfeed her daughter once (at night), and usually
only has time to pump once at work sometimes twice! She pumps before
she leaves for work because the baby is asleep. She knows more frequent
pumping is better and ofcourse baby to breast is best! On weekends she
breastfeeds exclusively. I also found that she wears underwire bras.
My suggestions were:

   * get rid of underwire bra
   * Pump more frequently at work if at all possible
   * try cabbage leaves on effective area
   * again do warm compresses, warm compresses. (oops forgot to tell
her about immersing breast in bowl of warm water!)

She just told me that she will give it 2 more weeks and then she will
quit. She got purple cabbage - I told her I always adviced to use green
cabbage ( I think it is just too much now for her to go get the green!
She is very very frustrated!)

Does anyone have any other suggestions to help save this mother\baby
couple? Can email me privately

TIA
