Hello, all--
I just had a mother call and ask which antianxiety agent is preferred for
breastfeeding mothers. Her MD didn't give her any specific names of agents,
so I couldn't look it up. If Drs. Newman, Hale, and Nice are on line and
could suggest a preferred agent, I'd love to have your opinion. I know that
the benzodiazepams have some concerns with lethargy in the infant; Zoloft
might be a good choice, but it's primarily and antidepressant which is used
for anxiety sometimes also.
Anxious to hear your opinions.
Linda L. Shaw MD FAAP
