For two days we had no running water, no electricity, no gas. It was a lot
like a third world country. All we had was each other. We are lucky now that
we have all that, but still, the the supermarkets are closed or have no
food. The gas stations are closed or have at least five-hour lines, and some
even tell you that they are only giving gas to certain people and you're not
one of them.

On someone's house I read a sign that said, "People, if you have spare
formula please give it to us, our baby is starving!"

Heartbreaking, but we all are starving now. No trains open, no roads open,
no gas, no food, no humanity.

nephew," said Maki Habachi, 23, who had been patiently standing for four
hours and still had an eight-hour wait to go. "My sister only has one day's
food left." Without fuel for her car, she had ridden for two days by bike
just to find food.
