Following Dr Alla Gordina's interesting and helpful description of the
Elista tragedy on child to mother transmission of HIV, I have a bit more:

From Russia case histories (all the one outbreak)

Summary of available evidence for child to breastfeeding woman transmission
from nosocomial outbreaks, during which nosocomially HIV-infected infants
transmitted the virus to their mothers through breastfeeding from online
databases including PubMed and ScienceDirect for English language articles
published from January 1975 to January 2011 using the search terms "HIV,"
"perinatal," "child-to-mother" and "breastfeeding." 5 studies documented
that transmission ranged from 40% to 60% among women reporting
breastfeeding after their infants were infected.
