Dr. Mira,

I would use an SNS @ the breast. Can you get those there??? It will help
the baby get in a more normal suck,swallow pattern and therefore increase
the milk supply. Pumping will only discourage her at this point. After a
couple of weeks of lots of supplement and the baby is stronger and looks
better she could try pumping again. Pumping is really good for emptying
what's there but not as good for increasing the milk supply. Nursing is
better for that. This is my observation. The baby may/maynot improve suck.
But, he'll be fed. She may need to use the SNS for a long time and can D/C
with solids.
