A lactation consultant and registered nurse I know in Southern California told
me that she attended a conference with Molly Pessl from Evergreen as speaker
and learned that JCAHO is going to require that hospital personnel that
dispense formula write down the lot number of every bottle they give out!
Anyone else heard of this recently that works in a hospital? This would be
wonderful for the nurses that love to give formula to breastfeeding mothers.
Not something they are going to like to do, but the only way JCAHO can track
the baby who might have received contaminated formula. Sure hope this isn't a
rumor! Loni Denman, RN, IBCLC
