An analogy I've just thought of is stroking pets.
If your dog lies at your feet, rests his head on your lap, or your cat curls
up on your lap, what is your instinctive reaction?
I defy anyone to deny stroking their pet almost instinctively.
(Not those who dislike /are allergic to furry animals, who are unlikely to
be pet owners anyhow)
It's mutually beneficial & therapeutic.
Co-sleeping is also mutually beneficial to mum & baby, encourages bf &
enhances baby led cues, so bf quickly becomes an automatic response.
A mum will soon literally *do it with her eyes closed*!
