When I talk to moms who have decided to quit, first I talk about what
is going on, what they want. Tell them that it is their decision and
they have to do what works for them and their family.
Then I talk about what is going wrong, admire their courage in doing so
well with their problems, their endurance, their desire to do what they
can for their child.
Then I finish off with a few ideas about problems with formula, paced
feeding, possible problems with formula, like power outages, etc.
And then I talk about relactating, why they might desire this and how
it is done.
I always admire the baby throughout the process.
