I wonder if this pale, slow-growing baby has a mild undiagnosed heart
defect.  Has anyone done a thorough exam looking for this possibility?

Zinc deficiency usually doesn't happen til toddlerhood or later.  It causes
a child to not be able to taste much of anything -- it would be like eating
plain, unsalted oatmeal at every meal.  Boring.
