Got a lot of mileage out of recent research on oxytocin & trust at our local Coalition's annual month-long "Breastfeeding Cafe" last August. Great talking points!

Hormone play in breastfeeding is one of the most frustrating and fascinating areas of interest -- for moms and for researchers. So difficult to understand scientifically and yet perhaps of greatest interest to mothers and children. After all it's the relationship not the milk that wins hearts and minds over a lifetime of consideration. Haven't talked to a grandmother yet who said "I'm so glad I breastfed -- all the nutrients were there..." They remember a smell and a sweet face and when they look at the nurslings in question, all grown up next to them, I can almost see the babies myself.

I am parenting a teen at the moment and have spoken with her about connections between touch and trust on another level. (Feel free to PM me with off-topic hormone studies on "another level!")

Hope to see much more speculation and study during my lifetime.
