We have recently been told we have to charge for any breastfeeding aids
with the same formula that is used for inpatient items. This means that
for an aid that would normally retail for $20 now we have to charge
$40-$60! And then our supervisor wonders why we haven't been turning as
much money lately. (In all honesty, when a mom is shocked at the price,
we let her know what local pharmacies carry the items and ask if she'd
like to check their prices first) She claims that it is standard
practice "everywhere". Would some of you who work out of a hospital
(those in private practice too) be willing to share what you charge for
items like supplementers, feeding devices, shields, etc? I know it
can't be posted here as it treads on the line of "price fixing". Please
e-mail to my work address ([log in to unmask]). Thanks

Winnie
