Dear Dr Neifert,

I saw a post on lactnet describing a Journal Club that you help run in Denver.
I thought it was a great idea and fowarded the post onto to multiple lactation
professionals in my area who I know and who I don't know. I got a nice response
and hence organized the first meeting. Originally, I was going to just hold it
in my house, however for several reasons I wound up reserving a small round
table conference room in my area teaching hospital. One of the reasons was
that my first guest speaker (my husband who is a PhD senior statistican for GSK
consumer health) who spoke on some basic statistics wanted to do a power point
presentation. I also really wanted to get some physicians to come, and thought
they might be more likely to come there than my house. In the end only one
physician came and 4 IBCLC's- none of the LLL Leaders- however- I do have
multiple people from all sides who said that they ARE intersted and to please
keep them on the list. So now for the second one- I will probably push it off
to give some more time to organize it- I am applying for CME's from the same
teaching hospital- thankfully thats free. I wanted to get also LCERP's and I
am trying to contact Carol Kolar from LLLI but I have a feeling that its going
to cost- and I want this to be a free event- I just want the CME's in order to
lure more MD's/ DO's . Now in order to get CME's I might have to change the
name of the group from a "Journal Club" to possibly- Evidence Based
Breasfeeding- because apparantly its very difficult to get CME accredidation
for a Journal Club- you have to have a quiz to prove that the participants read
the articles! So, why am I writing to you- well I was wondering if you would be
willing to give me some input and more information about how your group is run

My questions are
1. Do you meet in a house or a 'conference room'?
2. Do you have a speaker every time?
3. What time of day do you meet? (I made ours evening- the LLL leaders want days
but the other working professionals- including myself need eves)
4. Do you or did you ever consider having it CME, LCERP, CEU approved?
5. Do you have other physicians attend?
6. How is it advertised?
7. Is it a zero budget program or do you have funds/ expenses?

Thanks so much, I look foward to your reply
I am cc'ing this to BF med and lactnet so that anyone else who has done this
kind of thing before could add their input.
