If you get involved with this case, the most useful hat you can wear is your
developmental psych hat. Very often dads in these cases are just trying to
threaten and bully the mom, and really don't want to pay anything for
support, so they try to "get" the baby for as much time as possible (while
trying to "get" the mom as well :-{)

The courts will listen to the fact that it's developmentally inappropriate
for the baby to be away from mom so much (until age 2) -- but they won't
care particularly about the breastfeeding. I think I may have a summary of
what our local family court (where the officials all breastfed, and I
helped!) told me a few years ago. If I can find it, I"ll send it....

Remind the mom not to let all her craziness and anxiety be around the
breastfeeding., That should be her still, calm center.

Best to you, read the info at the LLL site too. It's very good - and it
always helps me not cross boundaries on these cases!!
