We expect subscribers to read the guidelines sent them when they join the list
and to take them seriously. Encouraging readers to shun other subscribers is
not within the guidelines. Neither is engaging in discussions that fall outside
the subject of Lactnet, which is supporting breastfeeding mothers and their
children. Specifically, opinions on the appropriateness of, or need for,
childhood immunization by vaccines are not on topic for Lactnet. Posts about
vaccines taken while breastfeeding or while being breastfed, as they relate to
breastfeeding, are of course welcome, as are posts on a whole bunch of other
sometimes controversial topics AS THEY RELATE TO BREASTFEEDING.

So, play nice, everybody. Presumably you are all on this list of your own free
will, because of your interest in protecting, promoting and supporting
breastfeeding. You can air your differences about other topics elsewhere. Our
archives will show that it is not only possible, but necessary for a fruitful
exchange of ideas and knowledge, to respect each other, also while
disagreeing. Respecting each other and having a sense of humor are *not*
mutually exclusive.

Wearing my listmother hat,
