Erika;

I certainly would not risk letting her "dry-up" on one side.

I think the fact that she took the ABX is good and although there has been plenty of research to support the fact that most cases of mastitis can be rersolve w/o ABX, sometimes the mother just needs to get better (in this case it seems like she is having a rough time).

In regards to removing the plug. Have you tried Lecithen, nursing on all fours, pointing baby's chin toward the plug, massage, warm compresses etc?? What exactly is she doing? Also, has she been draining the breast adequately, does she have over-supply-possibly consider one-sided feeds to minimize likelihood of fullness which in turn leads to plugged ducts. Or, has baby changed nursing schedule, if so then she should probably be very slow to drop a feed.

Regarding the yeast what is she doing? Hopefully she is taking the proper steps to make sure she and her baby are both rid of this pesky fungus.

Anyway, if you can answer the questions, hopefully we can all come up with a solution! :)
