Jennifer,

Using the Original Pump In Style (as opposed to the Advanced) is risky in
terms of maintaining a full milk supply for a mom in this situation. The
original usually does a good job of frequent pumping, say, if a mom is
working full time but it is chancy when the baby isn't going to the breast
at all. Having said that, it is better than nothing and certainly better
than a hand pump.

Medela does have a grant program for their rentals. Every Medela rental
station gets a $20.00 grant per month for use for situations like this.

I had a rental station for several years and offered several times to get
moms pumps at cost if they were in dire straits. Maybe there is someone in
your area with a who would be willing to do this?

Hope this helps,
Corrine Haselden LLLL, AAHCC
