>>Has anyone had experience with a tongue clicker. This baby is 9 weeks old
and mom still had to hold him on the breast of he falls off. He is growing
GREAT, but mom is uncomfortable with feeding in public due to the fact she
has to hold her breast and the baby is NOISEY.<<

Capri,
I've seen tongue clicking associated with "bubble" palates, allergies, and
occasional other weird tongue practices like tongue-sucking. It generally
represents suction breaks between nipple and tongue. My last born clicked
and could not stay on the breast by himself, either; he has my split uvula
and may share some of my palate anomalies.

Dx is half the battle. If allergy-prone family, elimination may be necessary
first. If palate issues, special positioning helps--> ie placing baby higher
than breast, such as in modified football hold with mom semi-reclined, or mom
supine/baby prone. These last two work well because they "force" the baby to
take in more breast tissue when he is otherwise trying to keep it to the
front of his mouth.

Hope this helps!
