Many times I've read that breastfeeding helps the mother's uterus shrink
more quickly after birth. This is listed as a benefit of breastfeeding.

Its never been clear to me, does this mean that, in a woman who doesn't
breastfeeding,:
1. her uterus NEVER shrinks to the size it would have if she were
breastfeeding?
OR
2. her uterus shrinks more slowly than a breastfeeding mom's would, but both
would eventually shrink to the same size?

(Also, I am assuming that the uterus never returns to the size it was before
its first pregnancy, that is, it is permanently slightly larger than in a
woman with no pregnancies?)

Thanks for your answer to this kind of dumb questions.

(considering our society's obession with flat stomachs, I think this is
information women would want to know - How much of the post pregnancy pouch
is a larger uterus - or is it all fat and extra stretched skin?)
