I have not read all the replies but I Will add that my now 12 year old son had a slight tongue-tie. Breasfeeding was painful for 4 months.  i stuck with it though.  however, i believe many would not do so.

Also, i win add that his father has the same tongue-tie. Let's just say that it can negatively affect one's ability to kiss.

What a fabulous digest this one was! We're so lucky to have Lactnet - a sincere "Thank You" to all who help make it possible.

Mary W-D's documenting her and her daughter's experience in "Lessons in syringe/bottle feeding" is so useful!

And I know I will reference Cathy W-G's really good summary of the potential impact of NOT addressing a TT frequently in the future.

I also loved the idea of having the parents try to drink while holding a jelly bean or similar object under the tongue - brilliant idea! I'll have to try that on some of the anxious parents who are trying to decide for or against treatment. Thanks, Janet D!
