Due to one of my "other" hats, I've been attending a series of trainings
about working with pregnant women who are using drugs - how to screen them,
what treatments are available, how to meet with them where they are and work
towards getting them to treatment, etc.

One of the points that an expert on the subject told us was that the amount
of Methadone being used is rising and rising and rising...because the
Methadone clinics are reimbursed based on the amount of methadone they
dispense!

Sooo whereas the women he treats receive the amount of methadone at the
levels I read in Hale, he rattled off dosages that were 10 times as high!

So warning...when we are talking about Methadone and breastfeeding, we need
to be aware of what are the dosages, or we are NOT talking about
"evidence-based" studies and effects.
