Hi everyone,

I am so frustrated by this.  Just last week, I was working with an induced 38
weeker with a tiny mouth, disorganized suck, and a mom with huge flat and
dimpled nipples.  And she was induced so that she could be pre-registered at
the hospital and because the baby seemed like he was "getting too big" though
his birthweight was just over 7 lbs.

I have been seeing so much of this in my area.  Near term babies because the
doctors are inducing or c/sing at 37.5-38.5 weeks and for a variety of
reasons.  In fact, the voluntary induction issue made our local news last
week!

I moved down to Southern Florida within the past two years and am not
hospital-based, so I may be seeing a concentration of the worst outcomes.  My
question is if you are seeing this all over the US or is this a "fashion
statement" down here?
