Roselina,

I second you praises regarding reverse pressure softening for edema
during the engorgement phase.  I also have found that if the baby is
still having issues latching, expressing on a typical suck and release
pumps can add to the edema, thus making matters worse. Our hospital just
finished a trail on a new pump by Whittlestone. I have found that
working with this pump called the Unipluse that uses one way airflow and
suction (moving the air and suction away from the breast) along with a
pulsating massage action it works great with this issue, does not
exacerbate the condition and does not traumatize the nipple tissue.
